Bobrisky Shares Emotional Story of His Mother’s Death in Mecca and Family Struggles

Controversial Nigerian crossdresser and socialite, Bobrisky, has opened up about the heartbreaking loss of his mother, who passed away in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, during the 2008 Hajj pilgrimage.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Bobrisky recounted his final conversation with his mother before her passing. According to him, she had called and urged him to take care of his younger brother if she didn’t return home. Unfortunately, her words turned out to be prophetic as she passed away the very next day.

Bobrisky: "I Took Up My Mother's Responsibility at a Young Age"

Reflecting on the burden of responsibility he has carried since losing his mother, Bobrisky revealed that he has been the sole provider for his family, including his 87-year-old grandmother and his elder brother, who has two children.

"I took up your responsibility at a young age to take care of your mother till now. And today, she is 87 years and very healthy. My elder brother is not comfortable like me, so I keep helping him because you told me to," he shared.

Bobrisky also revealed that 2024 has been a financially challenging year for him, admitting that despite his social media fame and flamboyant lifestyle, he still struggles with family responsibilities.

Opinion: A Story Beyond the Controversy

Bobrisky is often in the spotlight for his bold personality and controversial lifestyle, but this emotional revelation reminds many that behind the social media persona is a human being carrying deep personal struggles.

His story sheds light on a reality many Nigerians face—losing a parent and stepping into adulthood with overwhelming family responsibilities. In a society where the firstborn (or the most successful sibling) is expected to care for the entire family, Bobrisky’s experience resonates with many.

It also raises a crucial question: Should financial responsibilities be shared among family members instead of falling on one person?
