Skales Opens Up on Betrayal: ‘People I Helped Turned Their Backs on Me’

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Skales, has shared an emotional revelation about his experiences with betrayal in the music industry.

The Shake Body crooner expressed his disappointment over how many artists he once helped achieve stardom have now abandoned him. Despite their actions, Skales remains grateful, stating that God has never failed him.

Taking to his X handle, he wrote:

“One day I’ll sit down and tell you a story of how a lot of people turned their backs on me, including people I helped build up in this industry. But guess what? God never failed me even when I was isolated… Don’t you ever stop praying and trusting God with everything you’ve got… Best advice my mom gave me!!!”

Opinion: The Harsh Reality of the Music Industry

Skales’ story is not unique. The music industry is filled with tales of loyalty turning into betrayal, especially as fame and fortune shift alliances. Many artists have faced similar experiences—helping others rise, only to be left behind when success comes.

However, his message is one of resilience and faith. In an industry where trust is fragile, staying grounded and relying on personal strength (and, in his case, spirituality) can be a lifeline.

Should loyalty in the music business be expected, or is betrayal simply part of the game? Let’s discuss.
